BSI will oversee host broadcast for 2014 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships

Broadcast Solutions International (BSI) President Michael Klatt announced today that BSI will oversee the host broadcast for the 30th World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships, scheduled for Nov. 7-9, 2014, at the Daytona Beach (Fla.) Ocean Center. USA Gymnastics has retained BSI, and Klatt will serve as coordinating producer and director of the coverage. BSI will partner with Burke Brothers Productions of Phoenix, Ariz., which will provide technical facilities and manpower.

“BSI is pleased to continue its relationship with USAG and FIG which dates back to our host broadcast production of the 2002 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships and the 2003 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships,” Klatt said. “The opportunity to generate the world feed of an important event like the World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships is truly appreciated. BSI, along with our partner Burke Brothers Productions, is confident of a successful and innovative coverage”

“As the host of the World Championships, USA Gymnastics is responsible for providing the world feed, which will be available to countries around the world,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. “Michael brings a wealth of experience and we are pleased to have him again working with us on this great event.”

The World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships showcase the world’s best athletes in trampoline, synchronized trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline. The host feed will cover the finals, which are scheduled for the final two days of the World Championships.

In 2013, the World Championships featured teams from 39 countries, including Australia, Canada, China, England, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and the USA. The United States won three gold medals — men’s and women’s double mini-trampoline team titles and Kristle Lowell of Three Rivers, Mich./Branch Gymnastics, women’s double-mini — and one silver (Alex Renkert of Indianapolis/Geist Sports Academy, men’s double-mini). The USA also qualified its first male athlete to the trampoline finals in more than a decade.

2014 marks the first World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships held in the United States under the auspices of the FIG and USA Gymnastics. However, 2014 will be the fifth time the USA has staged trampoline’s World Championships. Prior to 1999, trampoline was governed by the International Trampoline Federation (FIT) and the American Trampoline and Tumbling Association, and the World Championships were held in Lafayette, La. (1966); Tulsa, Okla. (1976); Bozeman, Mont. (1982); and Birmingham, Ala. (1988).

Trampoline was added to the Olympic Games in 2000, and the USA has qualified for every Olympics in trampoline beginning in 2000. In 2012, Savannah Vinsant became the first U.S. gymnast to qualify to the Olympic trampoline finals. Many of the gymnasts who will compete in the 2016 Olympic Games will be competing in this year’s World Championships.
